Blue Skies and Tailwinds, June 5

Here we are arriving in Logansport, Indiana. We rode 96 miles in 95 degree heat. We lucked out again as severe thunderstorms were predicted but they didn't hit until we all were in. We actually had-for the first time-Blue Skies and Tailwinds. Watseka, where we were on Friday, is the southern most town on our trip so we have been pedaling south for days with the strong winds in our face-not fun. We are now headed northeast and the winds are behind us-fun!
We flew through the morning then the heat kicked in. Our sag support is so wonderful it supplied us with cold water and snacks all the way.
Our day got off a little early. The clock in our room was an hour off so we were dressed and ready to go but couldn't find anyone else around. What's one hour less sleep when you are riding 95 miles?!
I rode the whole 96 miles with Bettye and we supported each other along the way.
A pick-up truck pulled over and asked us if we saw his lost goat.
We figured out where all the people are. In cemeteries . There are more of them than there are towns!
We crosses into Indiana in the am and into eastern time zone- another missing hour of sleep!
The beautiful, emerald green, plush, huge lawns the homes out here have could only be found on country club fairways in California.
Hoosier Hospitality- We stopped at a small cafe for a drink and eats and asked if they had a hose so we could wet our heads to cool off. They didn't so Wilbur jumped in his truck and went home and got his.
We ask everyone we see what a Hoosier is? So far no one knows. Some answer- who's yer mother, who's yer father!?
We got in kind of late so our cook went out and got 6 pizzas which we had no trouble devouring! Some cheesecake and of course our "over another border "Margaritas and we were ready to hit the hay(and there's a lot of it out here!)
Tomorrow is laundry ,maybe some golf, and rest.
Bye for now. Donna

Ps: I hope this goes through. Last night's would not send and I'll be darned if I can figure out these electronic problems. Bev- hurry and get here!!
